Recent Fabrication Questions & Answers

A: Residential installations carry a 10 year installed warranty. Both DuPont and C.H. Briggs financially support the warranty. DuPont wants to ensure that the product is fabricated and installed to the most current specifications to prevent warranty claims. This is accomplished by requiring individuals working in the shop to be trained and the company to be certified.

A: Yes, these requirements are outlined in the Corian® Quartz Food Service Bulletin and the Corian® Solid Surface Fabrication manual. This information can also be obtained by attending the training sessions for Commercial Food Service installation.

A: No, current recommendations are that a dime-sized spot of silicone adhesive caulk every 12″ is suitable for installing Corian. A slightly thicker spot of silicone will allow the substrate and the Corian® to move at differing rates and yet still hold the two surfaces together.

A: Yes, provided there is adequate support at the leading edge and the back edge of the countertop, you do not have to use a triangular-shaped brace to support the top. Fabricators do need to ensure that the weight of the counter surface, and the potential load of anyone standing or sitting on the countertop, is accounted for. The installation detail should be reviewed by an architect or engineer to be sure that the size of the steel beams are correct for the anticipated load; that there is an adequate number of cross supports from front to back; and that the pockets for these beams in the side walls are suitable to carry the beams.

A: Warranty claims can be submitted via the DuPont “Salesforce.com” website, or click here to access a warranty claim form which can then be faxed or emailed to DuPont.

A: Both Corian® Solid Surface and Corian® Quartz material should be stored indoors to prevent the potential for ultraviolet fading of the colors and to minimize exposure to extreme temperature changes.
