Q: Can plywood have other cores besides veneer? I was under the impression that plywood always had a veneer core.
A: Yes, in addition to a veneer core, plywood can be made with an MDF or Particleboard core as well.
Q: What is the difference between White Birch and Natural Birch plywood?
A: Natural Birch allows for a mix of heartwood and sapwood in the veneer. Ordering White Birch will eliminate the dark heartwood appearance associated with the Natural Birch veneer. Because of this advantage, White Birch will typically be more costly.
Q: What types of sheet Veneer can C.H. Briggs supply?
A: We stock most domestic Veneer species in 10 mil, 20 mil, and ALLWOOD backed. Typically we stock these items in 4 x 8 sheets, and we have many sources where we can obtain exotic species and 5 foot wide material. Certain species are also available in 10 and 12 foot lengths.
Q: What kinds of products does C.H. Briggs have for radius work?
A: C.H. Briggs offers the most common 3/8” bending lauan products to form a barrel or column shape. We also stock a number of items from Interior Products, like Kerfkore and Econokore, which can provide great results, and solve specific fabrication problems associated with forming radius work.
Q: Can C.H. Briggs supply melamine panels to match high-pressure laminates?
A: Yes, we offer Pionite, some Nevamar colors, Formica, and Wilsonart colors manufactured as melamine panels. Lead times and minimums will typically apply.
