Greening Our Operations
The Briggs Green Team, a group of co-workers that share a similar goal for preserving our earth's natural resources, meets regularly to evaluate the progress of our programs and to identify new opportunities for reducing our carbon footprint as a business.
Greening Our Operations
The green programs currently underway at C.H. Briggs include:
- We have a recycling program responsible for over 21 tons of cardboard and paper and 180 tons of wood recycled per year
- We are conducting a delivery fleet optimization study to minimize fuel consumption and to reduce emissions
- We utilize 100% recycled packaging materials
- We are transitioning printed materials to recycled papers
Building Green
In 2000, Briggs added 18,000 square feet of office space to the existing distribution center. Our green approach to the construction of our new office building included the following:
- Building within an urban industrial zone
- Utilization of sustainable building materials, including carpet tile
- An HVAC system with programmable thermostats to conserve energy
- Our perimeter glass walled offices have abundant daylighting and
feature low-emission glazed windows with sunshades - Installation of efficient lighting
- Drought tolerant landscaping was planted
