About Icestone®

IceStone durable surfaces are made from 100% recycled glass and cement to create a high performance, green concrete material.

Eco-friendly, Green & Sustainable

IceStoneIceStone® surfaces are the ideal choice if you are searching for an eco-friendly, green countertop. IceStone surfaces can also be used for backsplashes, bathroom vanities, table tops, bar tops, interior walls, and commercial flooring applications. Beautiful shower and bathtub surrounds and kitchen sinks can be made with IceStone as well. IceStone surfaces can be mounted vertically or horizontally.

The mixing of non-toxic pigments and various glass colors and sizes results in a versatile IceStone color palette.  Currently, there are 29 available colors, but the palette is infinite. Custom color options are available for commercial projects only.

All IceStone slabs are manufactured in Brooklyn, NY, USA.

IceStone durable surfaces do not contain any petrochemicals and therefore will not fade from direct sun exposure. IceStone products are a healthy and safe choice for your surface needs, as they are chemically benign and 99.5% inorganic.

The fabrication, installation, and maintenance of IceStone surfaces follow similar standards used with natural stone.

IceStone is the first and only durable surface to have achieved Cradle to Cradle certification. McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC) - an independent third-party firm - has evaluated IceStone durable surfaces for its human health, environmental health, lifecycle attributes, social responsibility, renewable energy and water stewardship characteristics against stringent criteria and has certified it as a Gold level ecologically intelligent product.

High recycled content and Cradle to Cradle Gold Certification, IceStone materials can contribute to LEED points.

The United States Green Building Council developed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System in order to transform the built environment to sustainability by providing the building industry with consistent, credible standards for what constitutes a green building. There are different types of LEED rating systems, and all are continuously refined. You can check the latest versions at the USGBC website.

Using IceStone durable surfaces has helped many projects obtain LEED credits. Listed below is information relating to how IceStone can help to obtain credits in the LEED Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI) version 2.0 rating system.

MR 4: Recycled Content

IceStone durable surfaces contain recycled content that ranges from 70% on average to 75% of the product by weight. Of the recycled content, generally 80-100% is pre-consumer waste, with the balance being post-consumer waste.

MR 5: Regional Materials

IceStone durable surfaces are manufactured in Brooklyn, NY. If your project is within 500 miles of Brooklyn, IceStone qualifies as a regional material.

EQ 4: Low-Emitting Materials

IceStone durable surfaces contain no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and thus emit no VOCs. We recommend that IceStone be used in conjunction with certain low-VOC or no-VOC sealants.
