C.H. Briggs Lights-Up MODA Exhibition with Chandelier Donation

Ultra-Modern CorianĀ® Chandelier Commissioned for Exhibition Honoring Today's Southern Designers

News & Events

Reading, PA, November 9, 2012 - When the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) kicks off its Fall Exhibition The South's Next Wave: Design Challenge, guests will be delighted by a spectacular, one-of-a-kind chandelier designed through a course collaboration with the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). C.H. Briggs, one of the largest independently-owned distributors of interior and specialty building products in the United States, commissioned this work-of-art to share with the architect and design community the creative possibilities of Corian® as a design material. After the exhibition, the chandelier will be auctioned off as part of a MODA fundraiser.

"We love to educate and inspire student designers to think differently about Corian® solid surface," said Luis Arias, chief marketing officer, C.H. Briggs. "Our collaboration with SCAD has produced some amazing design concepts and it was a pleasure to bring this student's concept to life. As a proud sponsor of MODA, we couldn't imagine a more perfect venue to showcase such an innovative lighting design than the Museum of Design Atlanta."

The 5 ft. tall chandelier was fabricated by West Chester, PA-based fabricator MacLaren Fabrication. The Corian® Illumination Series was chosen because of its translucency and unique thermoforming properties.

The South's Next Wave is a show that is part exhibition, part competition and that features more than 40 of the most cutting edge and important interior and object designers in the Southeast today. Open to the public on November 11, the exhibition will run through March 31, 2013. A Gala Preview will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012, at 7:00 p.m., and tickets can be purchased at www.museumofdesign.org.
