Imaginative Corian® Bench Designs Exhibited throughout Center City Philadelphia

READING, PA, October 1, 2009 - C.H. Briggs, one of the largest independently-owned distributors of interior and specialty building products in the United States, has teamed up with DuPont, elite Philadelphia-area architects and designers and local Philadelphia fabricators to create inventive and contemporary benches made entirely of DuPontTM Corian®. The "Corian® Bench Inventions" will be exhibited in three locations throughout the city of Philadelphia in conjunction with DesignPhiladelphia, from October 7 - October 31, 2009.

"It is truly thrilling to have the opportunity to exhibit the incredible, avant-garde work of our local architects and designers during DesignPhiladelphia," said Luis Arias, Chief Marketing Officer, C.H. Briggs Company. "We are honored to support Philadelphia's national reputation for the arts, while also showcasing the limitless possibilities of Corian® as an inspirational and innovative design material."

The forward-thinking benches combine technology and design to produce stirring images in unexpected locations, many of which pay homage to deep-rooted Philadelphia traditions and push the limits of a traditional bench. From illuminated crates and futuristic pods to stoops, ribbons and Lego-like benches, designs that defy the ordinary will be showcased throughout the following locations:

Schuylkill Banks Park: On the river banks between Cherry Street and Walnut Streets

Chestnut Park: 1707 Chestnut Street between 17th and 18th Streets

Three Parkway Plaza: 110 North 16th Street between Cherry Street and Arch Streets

All of the benches are made of DuPontTM Corian®, a flexible design material that can be thermoformed into custom shapes and contours, sandblasted, routed, carved, laser-etched and backlit, giving participating designers almost limitless possibilities.

The ultra-modern designs include:
