Julia Klein, Chairwoman & Chief Executive Officer
Julia is the Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer of C.H. Briggs Company. She has led the transformation of C.H. Briggs from family business to growth platform company, expanding its products, geography and markets; introducing innovative technology and integrating six acquisitions.
Now one of the nation's top 100 women-owned businesses, the company has experienced dramatic growth during Julia's tenure, and has been in the top quartile for profitability in its industry segment for 20 years.
Julia and the Briggs Team developed the company from a local hardware distributor into a super-regional distributor of a wide range of building materials, known for its early and innovative application of technology. Under her leadership, C.H. Briggs became the first company in its industry segment to deliver full service online.
Julia and her company have received many business and community service awards, and she is frequently asked to speak on distribution and technology, growth strategy and women's issues.
Today, C.H. Briggs is a professionally managed organization of 145 coworkers, with more than 240 vendors and 10,000 customers in the mid-Atlantic and southeast.

Don Schalk, President & Chief Operating Officer
Don Schalk joined C.H. Briggs in 2007 as President and Chief Operating Officer. A seasoned, customer-focused executive, with a proven track record of driving organic growth and leading acquisitions, Don has demonstrated success in harnessing productivity improvements and increasing customer satisfaction.
Prior to joining C.H. Briggs, Don served as President and General Manager of EnergyUnited Propane LLC, a regional energy company in North Carolina. Before joining that firm Don was President and Chief Executive Officer of Richland Partners LLC, dba Leffler Energy, a $100 million petroleum distribution company, which was formed through a management buyout of Columbia Petroleum. Prior to that, Don held executive positions at Agway, Inc. in Syracuse, New York, including Vice President of its $300 million retail network and Director of Marketing for Consumer Products. Under his stewardship, the organization consistently improved earnings and lowered costs.
Don graduated from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, New York with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, and was inducted into its Athletic Hall of Fame for baseball. Don also earned a Master’s of Business Administration from Syracuse University. He has served on the Board of Governors at LeMoyne College, and has taught as an Adjunct Professor in the Masters Program at Alvernia College in Reading, Pennsylvania. Most recently Don was elected to the Board of Trustees at Alvernia College.

Luis Arias, Chief Marketing Officer
Luis joined C.H. Briggs in 1994 and has held various product management and marketing positions during his tenure. Today, as Chief Marketing Officer, he is responsible for the pursuit of market leadership and establishing C.H. Briggs as the preferred sourcing partner for creators and users of every commercial and interior building space. Luis oversees all marketing and business development efforts including strategy and planning, pricing strategy, marketing program development and execution, brand development and management, and corporate communications.
Luis earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina. He began his career in outside sales with Hettich America and The Pillsbury Company.

Bob Spangler, Chief Sales Officer
Bob Spangler is Chief Sales Officer at C.H. Briggs Company. Bob joined C.H. Briggs in 1999 and has held various marketing and sales positions during his tenure. Today, he develops and leads sales strategy and execution to drive revenue and profitability, as well as cultivates customer relationships to strengthen the C.H. Briggs brand. Bob also oversees field operations and strategic account development.
Bob has a B.A. in Communications from The Pennsylvania State University. He began his career in outside sales with Pioneer Plastics.

Mike Strauss, Chief Supply Chain Officer
Mike Strauss joined C.H. Briggs in 2007 as Vice President of Supply Chain Management and later assumed the role of Chief Supply Chain Officer. In his current role, he provides strategic and operational leadership for all supply chain activities including procurement and logistics, as well as alignment of organizational processes.
Prior to joining C.H.Briggs, Strauss served as Supply Chain Director at Elemica in Wayne, Pennsylvania where he was responsible for go-to-market strategies for an open network of chemical buyers and sellers seeking e-commerce solutions to improve supply chain efficiencies.
Prior to that, Strauss held a Regional Manager position for Netfish Technologies in Santa Clara, California where he established a regional office and led a software consulting team that implemented ERP systems. Strauss also managed the Supply Chain at Reading, PA-based Carpenter Technology Corp., a global steel manufacturer. He has held various positions at firms in Kentucky and New Jersey in order fulfillment and construction project management.
Mike has a M.S. in Management of Technology from The Wharton School of Business and the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Pennsylvania. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a B.S. in Systems Engineering, Mike served in the United States Army as an Artillery Officer and Platoon Leader in Germany during the Gulf War.

Scott Withers, Chief Information Officer
As Chief Information Officer, Scott is responsible for all technology and information services within the company including application and networked IT systems, software development, analysis, as well as all telephony systems. Scott joined C.H. Briggs in 1989 as a manager of information systems.
Scott's background prior to C.H. Briggs combines more than 20 years of sales, operations and information systems experience within the wholesale distribution industry, previously being responsible for operations and logistics of a large regional wholesale tobacco, candy, and grocery distribution company.
Scott is a graduate of Lebanon Valley College, where he holds an American Chemical Society certified Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.

Judith DiRenzo, Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer, Judy provides oversight and management of all financial functions, including financial planning and budgeting, corporate accounting and reporting, tax, and risk management. Judy brings more than 30 years of strategic and financial leadership experience in corporate finance.
Prior to joining C.H. Briggs in 1997, Judy served as Chief Financial Officer for Meridian Securities. Prior to Meridian Securities, Judy served as Assistant Vice President of data integrity for Lincoln First Bank N.A. Judy began her career as a senior auditor at KPMG. Judy is a CPA and holds a B.A. in Accounting from Franklin and Marshall College.

Jill Meese, Vice President of Human Resources
Jill Meese is Vice President of Human Resources at
C.H. Briggs Company. Joining C.H. Briggs in 2010, Jill is the newest member of the executive team and brings over 12 years of experience in organization change, compensation, talent acquisition, coworker relations and performance management. Jill overseas all HR activities ensuring that
C.H. Briggs continues to foster an environment of opportunity and growth for all coworkers.Jill joins C.H. Briggs from Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, NY, where she served as Senior Human Resources Manager. Prior to Eastman Kodak, Jill held the position of Human Resources Leader at Tech Services International in Kennett Square, PA.
A certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Jill is a graduate of East Stroudsburg University with a B.S. in Management and also has an MBA in Human Resources from Temple University.
